TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR ON USER EXPERIENCE AT AITI-KACE Thursday February 7, 2013
User experience UX is every aspect of the user’s interaction with a product, service, or company that make up the user’s perceptions of the whole. User experience design as a discipline is concerned with all the elements that together make up that interface, including layout, visual design, text, brand, sound, and interaction.
UX includes all the users’ emotions, beliefs, preferences, perceptions, physical and psychological responses, behaviours and accomplishments that occur before, during and after use.
It is not enough to have a product or service which customers can use in only a functional way. In today’s competitive environment a company needs to stand out and have competitive edge. This means finding out more about who the company's customers are, what they enjoy doing, their interests and what they need.
Also, increasing numbers of people expect to access the internet at work, on the move, at home or in any similar situation for various reasons through a variety of tools such as smartphones, tablet computers and netbooks.
In order to keep up with this increased demand, designers try and ensure that their products such as websites are not only effective and useful but give their visitors or customers a great experience as well.
David Hutchful of the Grameen Foundation, Dela A. Kumahor, UX profesional at Rancard Solutions and Lecturer at Ashesi and Dorothy K. Gordon, Director-General at AITI-KACE will lead discussions on the subject and guide us to understand how the practice of UX can benefit corporations large or small, institutions and individuals.
