Diploma in Business Computing (DBC) The DBC programme is designed for individuals or professionals who intend to enhance their programming skills and gain expertise in developing database driven applications with the C sharp (C#) programming language. It is also an effective programme for developers and IT professionals who require extensive database skills and are looking to develop database driven commercial applications using C sharp (C#) language while leveraging on ORACLE/SQL as back-end server. The IT talent market is changing and growing at a rapid pace globally. There is now a greater demand for more agile and self-driven individuals. DBC gives the skills and capabilities to perform effectively anywhere in the world. In view of these, the course provides participants with skills that give them options. Course graduates are able to build business applications using Oracle or MSSQL data management software as well as web applications. Students will be taught how to use middle tier data technologies like Language Integrated Query, Entity Framework, and Web Services to implement data retrieval and manipulation at the data layer level of the applications.
Course Modules Software Engineering: Students are trained in the process of data gathering, scope definition, functional requirement specifications for translating the business processes into robust software for business operations. Database Concepts: Any reliable data-driven application relies on a well-designed database which depends on a good understanding of the relational database design principles such as normalization. This module focuses on giving students in-depth knowledge in these principles for better design of databases. Hypertext Markup Language 5: Today, dynamic websites are crucial to organizations for driving site traffic, expanding market recognition, providing round-the-clock information, and promoting growth. In this course, one learns the basics of developing websites to achieve these benefits. Specifically, one gains the key knowledge to develop web pages using HTML to build a complete site. Oracle: This module aims to equip students with the knowledge of implementing good relational database that is needed to provide a strong back-end for desktop and web applications development. Students are also exposed to the management of database objects, user roles, data access, retrieval, manipulation and display. You will learn to build stored procedures, design and execute modular applications and increase the efficiency of data movement.
Desktop Application with C# (C sharp): This module teaches students to create business desktop applications with back end database within the Microsoft desktop application development environment. (.Net Framework) Students will learn how to code efficiently for better user experience.
Web Application with C# (Asp.net): This module covers the development of web based business applications within the Microsoft development environment. This module gives students the opportunity to experience other open source web based development tools for better user experience.
Learning Objectives: Build and deploy secure, scalable applications with ASP.NET Create, compile and run object-oriented C# programs Understand and write C# language constructs, syntax and semantics Produce programs using solid multilayer architectures Improve performance with collections and bulk operations
Hands-On Experience: Validating user input with client- and server-side rules Building rich applications for desktop and mobile browsers Restricting application access with role-based security Writing desktop and web apps with Windows Forms and Web Forms Constructing and deploying custom .NET components Implementing query logic on databases using LINQ and the EF Accelerating development with the .NET Framework library Creating triggers to handle data integrity and derivation
