NATIONAL COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENTS HACKATHON & APP EXHIBITION 2016 TO KICK OFF
The maiden edition of the National Computer Science Students Hackathon and Exhibition will come off on April 23, 2016 at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE).
The event which is jointly organised by the Computer Science Students Association of Ghana (COMPSSA-GH) and departments from Ghana's tertiary institutions aims to unearth the next generation of leaders in Computing and IT. The competition will be hosted and facilitated by the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT.
Schools that have confirmed to participate include the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Development Studies, University of Cape Coast, Koforidua Polytechnic, Ghana Technology University (Koforidua Campus) and Accra Poly. The rest are Ho Poly, Kumasi Poly, All Nations University and Sunyani Poly.
Key objectives for the event include:
To challenge students to develop solutions to common community or national problems
Provide a platform to showcase computing talent from Ghanaian tertiary institutions.
Participating teams will compete in various activities which will include a hackathon, mentoring sessions, app exhibition and quiz competition (aka Jeopardy).
Participants get to benefit Cash prizes, opportunity to develop future solutions for private or public organizations and coaching and mentoring from experts. Contestants also put their skills, ideas and creativity into use in tackling a real-life challenges.-Ends-
